Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Project/Program Manager III to lead and manage a variety of small to medium-sized projects within a state government environment. This role will primarily focus on IT and software development projects, as well as providing support for larger, complex initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and project tracking, with a clear focus on achieving the desired outcomes in a timely and effective manner.
Job Responsibilities:
- Project Management (Small to Medium Scope): Lead and manage small projects with defined scope, risk, and duration, ensuring deliverables are met according to project timelines.
- Client Agency Projects: Oversee small-scale client agency projects with clear and achievable goals.
- Project Support for Larger Initiatives: Provide support for larger-scale projects, tracking progress and assisting in the delivery of key milestones.
- Project Controller Role: Take on project controller responsibilities when required, managing project resources and timelines.
- Collaborate with Senior Management: Assist senior-level teams in managing complex or high-priority statewide projects, ensuring alignment with state government objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage and communicate with senior government officials and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are aligned with state priorities.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain detailed project documentation, including reports on progress, risks, and issues.
- Portfolio Management Support: Assist in the overall management of the state's project portfolio and IT investment management processes.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 7-9 years of project management experience, specifically with software development projects. Ability to manage projects of small to medium scope and risk.
- Advanced Project Management Skills: Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high professional standards.
- Software Development Knowledge: Understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing detailed reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Certifications: PMP or other relevant project management certifications preferred.
- Government Experience: Familiarity with state government operations and priorities is a plus.
