Compensation & Benefits :

Pay Range : $20.00 - $28.00 per hour

Summary

The Utility Worker will aid skilled tradespeople in various construction projects to ensure the efficient functioning of infrastructure to meet the operational needs of the customer. The position requires physical strength, stamina, flexibility, and the ability to work in different weather conditions. This operates under the supervision of a Foreman or Utility Pole Supervisor and assists in various tasks, including lifting & moving heavy equipment and materials, digging trenches, and excavating areas. Utility Workers must work in collaboration with team members to accomplish project objectives. Successful candidates are eager to work and can learn & grow on the job.

Responsibilities

Assist in setting work areas by preparing materials and tools and cleaning up by removing debris and excess materials.

Use shovels, picks, and other digging tools to locate obstructions and excavate trenches or dig around poles.

Assist skilled tradespeople install pipes, cables, and other utility lines by carrying materials, holding equipment, and performing other tasks as needed.

Operate hand and power tools such as saws, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners and jackhammers to assist in construction projects and will follow safety guidelines to avoid injury.

Help lift and move heavy equipment and materials such as concrete blocks, pipes, while working safely around heavy machinery.

Utilize hand tools to excavate and backfill ground material around structure.

Keep the job site clean and organized by sweeping, picking up debris, and properly storing tools and equipment.

Apply preservatives and / or coating to the ground line area of the structure.

Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to avoid injury and maintain a safe working environment.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Skills & Abilities

Able to work in different weather conditions such as rain, heat, and cold.

Able to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.

Willing to learn new skills and follow instructions from skilled tradespeople and supervisors.

Must be reliable and punctual, showing up to work on time and consistently performing assigned tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training a plus.

Physical strength and ability to lift heavy objects, often weighing 50 pounds or more.

Basic understanding of how to use hand and power tools safely.

Outdoor work including hot, cold, wet, and dry environments.

Standing, bending, and walking for prolonged periods.

Travel as needed.
