The Controller will directly report to the VP of Operations and work closely with the COO to oversee the company’s general accounting operations, systems, processes, and people to ensure compliance with professional standards, and state and federal regulatory requirements. You will manage month-end and year-end closings, budgeting, variance analysis, KPI tracking, maintain the general ledger and Chart of Accounts, issue financial statements, and provide financial reports and risk assessments to leadership.

Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly and annual financial closing process.
- Issue timely and complete financial statements.
- Creating reports for the Executive team.
- Serve as key advisor to the COO and Leadership Team on financial matters.
- Analyze monthly / quarterly operations and financial performance; provide variance analysis and explanations; and complete ad hoc analyses as requested.
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations- develop, measure and report on these KPI’s.
- Lead the preparation of the annual operating budget.
- Perform audits on a regular basis of the current accounting operations and workflows, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
- Financial auditing and cleanup
- Maintain depreciation schedules.
- Project Costing and Margin Analysis
- Maintain the Chart of Accounts.
- Review payroll tax filings for accuracy.
- Provide semi-monthly and year-end payroll support.
- Lead the effort to stay informed with any changes to accounting practices.
- Assist in the delegation of work to ensure continuity.
- Manage, train, and develop staff accountants.
- Review and approve staff accountant’s work product.
- Provide back-up for all accounting/payroll functions as needed.
- 1099 preparation and delivery.
- Payroll Tax setup with new states.
- Bank liaison.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as necessary.
Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including GAAP.
- Experience creating and analyzing financial statements.
- Expert in general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process.
- Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise and similar ERPs
- Experience with ADP Payroll systems.
- Must have exceptional verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability with quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Strong computer skills (i.e.: MS Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Accounting Manager or equivalent role.
- Experience in SaaS or Technology industries preferred.
- Local candidates preferred.
- CPA preferred.
