JOB TITLE: Medical Laboratory Technician

REPORTS TO: General Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the General Supervisor, the Medical Laboratory Technician will evaluate and perform established criteria in conformance with state and federal regulatory guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follows laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and patient test records maintenance.
- Monitors test analysis and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance are completed.
- Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures.
- Maintains proficiency and competency in performance for the testing menu of the department.
- Adheres to laboratory quality control policies and documents all quality control activities.
- Performs instrument calibration and maintenance.
- Follows laboratory procedures when test systems are not within established acceptable levels of performance.
- Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and notifies proper personnel.
- Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established specifications.
- Properly disposes of all bio-hazardous materials and prepares solutions and reagents in accordance with standard procedure.
- Participates in regulatory agency inspection readiness and onsite inspections.
Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind the work assignments of this position as business needs warrant.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education / Certifications:
- Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Science is accepted.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Appropriate certification based on assigned department.

- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Willingness to maintain confidential information

- This position is full-time
