Assistant Construction Project Manager

Max Construction Company is a locally owned and operated general contracting firm with 50 years of experience in the restaurant and retail construction business. Max Construction has become a well-established firm with an excellent reputation due to attention to detail, upfront honesty, quality workmanship, and solid customer relations.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Assistant Project Manager. The candidate should be familiar with commercial construction, the life cycle of a project, estimating, and general project management procedures. This position will work directly under the Project Managers and with the support staff. This position will require strong organization, attention to detail, and communication skills to meet company objectives and goals.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Project Managers with all aspects of construction phases from bidding to commencement through to project completion.
• Read blueprints, do take offs, assist with estimating for bidding new projects.
• Bid procurement. Qualify Subcontractors and their bids.
• Permit expediting. Schedule inspections. Work with building departments on requirements and procedures.
• Help create project budget and schedule.
• Help to order materials and negotiate with subcontractors.
• Track project schedules, budget, and communicate with all parties involved.
• Daily coordination with site Superintendents on job progress.
• Assist PM with subcontractors’ extras and back charges for change orders.

The Candidate Will Need:

• At least 3 years of construction experience, preferably in commercial construction.
• Ability to read blueprints and complete take-offs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Experience with Bluebeam Revu software preferred.
• Strong work ethic and leadership skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong ability to work closely with others: co-workers, subcontractors, and upper-management.
• Minimal travel is involved, any travel expenses would be paid by the company.
