TITLE: Director of Concessions
REPORTS TO: Chief Commercial Officer
OVERALL DUTIES: The Director of Concessions will oversee six Max Mara trademarks across
19 locations and 52 shops. This position works closely with cross-functional corporate teams to
execute growth initiatives aimed at maximizing profitability. The ideal candidate will have a
proven track record in retail management, with a strong focus on operational excellence, sales
growth, and strategic development across multiple locations, particularly in department stores
and leased businesses. This role will be pivotal in expanding Max Mara's presence in department stores across the United States.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead, develop, and mentor high-performing Regional Managers and Shop Managers, ensuring
alignment with broader company goals.
• Cultivate a high-performance culture in Concessions focused on operational excellence, sales
growth, client experience, and continuous improvement.
• Drive sales growth and meet KPIs as outlined by the company.
• Oversee Vendor Direct Fulfillment (VDF) in collaboration with the E-commerce and
Operations teams to ensure efficiency.
• Manage the Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) program, ensuring profitability while continuously
identifying opportunities for growth.
• Optimize inventory management practices to minimize stock loss.
• Monitor and manage T E, events, and co-op budgets, with a strong emphasis on cost
management and driving profitability.
• Champion Max Mara’s Retail Excellence Strategy, with a particular focus on CRM and client
experience to enhance customer loyalty.
• Streamline processes and operational workflows, ensuring business objectives are met while
maintaining the highest standards of efficiency and operational excellence.
• Ensure ongoing participation in key department store promotional events to maximize brand
visibility and sales.
• Collaborate with the Buying team to optimize product assortments and improve sales
performance.
• Work closely with Retail Planning to finalize sales forecasts.
• Plan, execute, and oversee VIC client events, client luncheons, and in-store and off-site
activations to drive customer engagement.
• Lead the execution of matrix and non-matrix pop-up shops and trunk shows, using special
events and retail tactics to boost product visibility and sell-through.
• Guide teams through transitions, implementing new strategies or processes with minimal
disruption and maximum efficiency.
• Act as the liaison between the Department Store Corporate teams, Max Mara’s COO, and
internal cross-functional teams to secure resources, address obstacles, and implement store
improvements.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EDUCATION:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in multi-unit management, with a focus on department
stores and concessions.
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and inspire high-performing teams, including Regional and
Shop Managers.
• Strong track record of driving sales growth and exceeding performance targets.
• Ability to contribute to and execute long-term strategic plans.
• Deep understanding of CRM and customer service, with a demonstrated ability to enhance
client relationships and drive retention.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-
functionally with departments such as Buying, Planning, HR, Marketing, PR, Finance, E-
commerce, and Operations.
• Strong analytical skills, with a data-driven approach to analyzing sales performance, customer
trends, and operational efficiencies.
Compensation: $130,000 - $190,000 based on experience.
