About The Max Warburg Courage CurriculumThe Max Warburg Courage Curriculum (MAXCourage) is an English Language Arts program designed to help middle school students explore the theme of courage through literature and personal reflection. Since its inception in 1991, the program has impacted over 200,000 students in Boston Public Schools and across the country. MAXCourage fosters critical thinking, builds literacy skills, and inspires students to recognize the power of courage in their own lives. In addition, our Courage in My Life National Essay Contest gives students a platform to share personal experiences of courage and resilience. The program has been housed at Northeastern University since 2006.
About the PositionWe are seeking a Development Officer with a proven track record in cultivating relationships and securing gifts and grants from corporations and foundations. In this role, you will contribute to the financial sustainability of MAXCourage by managing donor relationships, writing high-quality proposals, and securing funding to support our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundraising Strategy & Execution: Work closely with the Executive Director to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with corporations and foundations.
- Proposal Writing: Develop compelling grant proposals, letters of intent, and status reports to secure corporate and foundation support.
- Donor Stewardship: Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring consistent and impactful engagement.
- Research & Opportunity Identification: Stay informed about trends in corporate and foundation giving, identifying new funding opportunities to expand support for MAXCourage’s mission.
- Support Executive Director: Provide additional fundraising support as needed, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
- Cultivate Partnerships: Attract and nurture new top-tier corporate and foundation partners to increase philanthropic contributions to MAXCourage.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 3 years experience in Fundraising, with a demonstrated ability to secure significant funding.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and inspire donors.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive proposals and compelling fundraising materials.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Self-starter with a strategic mindset and the ability to work independently while being a team player.
- Professional demeanor and sound judgment in handling sensitive information and donor relations.
