**Software Engineer Position**
We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our Kestrel team. This role can be performed remotely within the continental United States.
As a member of the Kestrel team, you will have the opportunity to closely support our mission partners and contribute to maintaining air and maritime domain awareness to combat illicit activities in and around the United States.
You will work closely with other software engineers and data scientists, leveraging open-source tools and libraries to create and maintain a high-throughput, low-latency data science pipeline.

**Your Role**
Contributing to the continued research and development of an existing analytics pipeline tasked with identifying suspicious activity in the air and maritime domains, creating and/or refining software applications in support of data scientists and mission partners, creation and/or refinement of analytical models, and maintenance and enhancement of existing custom applications specifically built to support our mission partners.

**Requirements**
Must be a US citizen. Current Top Secret security clearance and/or CBP suitability Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related field (4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree. A Master's degree may count as an additional 2 years of experience).
5 years demonstrated professional experience with programming, design, and/or development. Basic knowledge in Python, Javascript, or similar programming language. Working knowledge of Java and Rust programming languages. Working knowledge of agile software development practices and tools, such as Jira, Confluence, and git.
Must be willing to work in a remote setting and comfortable communicating via video calls.
**Preferred Qualifications**
Full-stack development experience in Java and/or Rust. Experience with front-end development using React, Angular, or some other JS framework. API Rest Framework development/maintenance. Exposure to building and supporting solutions in a cloud-like environment (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OpenStack, etc…). Experience with containerized deployments (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker) Experience with CI/CD tools and workflows (e.g. Jenkins, ArgoCD, Harness) Experience developing and maintaining low-latency, streaming data processing technologies and paradigms (specifically Apache Flink and/or Apache Kafka) Experience with SQL database development and design (specifically PostgreSQL and Apache Iceberg)
