With ongoing supervision, CAD Designers are responsible for the designs of our winding products such as mechanical and pneumatic air shafts, chucks and brakes. This includes completed drawing packets with a BOM as well as working in collaboration with other departments.

With ongoing supervision, CAD Designers are responsible for the designs of our winding products such as mechanical and pneumatic air shafts, chucks and brakes. This includes completed drawing packets with a BOM as well as working in collaboration with other departments.
- Review initial sales documentation and application data in order to prepare 3D models and drawings using CAD to fulfill customer expectations.
- Review design data comprising sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from design team coordinator, application and R&D engineers.
- Develop detailed engineering packages for manufacturing (including BOM, 3D CAD Models, detailed part drawings and detailed assembly drawings) for effective communication with manufacturing.
- Generate bill of materials for assemblies and components for fabrication used in the manufacturing and installation of equipment.
- Use custom-built design tool which calculates stress, deflection, critical speed and other basic design calculations (requires working knowledge of Microsoft Excel to successfully use design tool).
- Identify, understand, and execute processes, and implement changes to existing drawings.
- Inspect drawings and layouts of other engineering personnel.
- Apply engineering judgment to evaluate fabrication and assembly product ability and assign appropriate materials and part tolerances to achieve required performance levels.
- Identify discrepancies and bring to the attention of supervision and work to clarify ambiguity or identify root cause of discrepancy.
- Associates Degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school
- One to Two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- To be successful in this role, employee is required to have competent working skills with:
- Windows Operating System
- Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
- Autodesk Inventor 2020 or newer
- SolidWorks
- Regularly required to sit or walk; use hands to handle or feel
- Occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms; stop, kneel, or crouch
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
