Job Title: Medical Receptionist
Job Summary: A Medical Receptionist provides essential administrative and clerical support in healthcare settings. They are responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of the medical office or facility, managing patient interactions, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role plays a key part in providing a positive and organized experience for patients and healthcare providers. Seeking PART TIME TO Full-Time with cross department training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Reception: Greet and assist patients, visitors, and medical staff in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Scheduling: Manage appointments, consultations, and follow-up visits, coordinating with healthcare providers and patients to ensure smooth scheduling. Future cross-training with procedure schedulers.
- Patient Records: Maintain and update electronic and paper patient records, including medical history, insurance information, and personal details, in compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
- Billing and Insurance: Assist in billing and insurance-related tasks, including verifying insurance coverage, processing claims, and explaining financial responsibilities to patients.
- Filing and Data Entry: Organize and maintain medical records, lab results, and correspondence. Perform data entry tasks as needed.
- Communication: Answer phone calls, emails, and inquiries, providing information, scheduling appointments, and directing messages to appropriate personnel.
- Inventory Management: Maintain and order office and medical supplies as needed.
- Patient Support: Offer support and assistance to patients, addressing their questions, concerns, and needs.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal medical administrative assistant training or certification is a plus.
- Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, coding, and transcription.
- Knowledge of healthcare software and electronic health records (EHR) systems. Specifically EClinicalWorks, EPIC
- Strong computer and data entry skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates flexibility with various work schedules.
- Attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Customer service-oriented mindset.
- All other duties as assigned
