Shop welder

Maximum Security Products Corp. (MSP) is a Waterford, NY-based Detention Equipment and Miscellaneous Steel contractor and manufacturer.

MSP is seeking a skilled welder for shop fabrication of miscellaneous steel / light structural steel to join their team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Secure components together by applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
• Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position as needed.
• Prepare material for welding by cutting or grinding using pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and / or grinder.
• Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.
• Reads and understands plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details specifications, etc.
• Work within company safety rules including OSHA.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one-year welding experience (preferred)
• Good working knowledge of geometry, basic math, and measuring instruments
• Good understanding of machining practices
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Motivated and shows willingness to learn
• Team player who works in cooperation with others

Work Environment :

Machine shop environment which may require the use of industrial hearing protection and / or other personal protective equipment.

Physical Demands :

• Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
• Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
• Occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
• Quantitative / mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
