Job Title: Animal Health Technologist

Duties:
The basic responsibility of this position is to provide veterinary health care services to laboratory animal populations under the direct supervision of an Animal Resources Veterinarian or Senior Animal Health Technologist.
Assists in maintenance and operation of aseptic surgical suite, including provision of pre-, peri-, and post-operative care of surgical patients, including induction and maintenance of anesthesia, pain management, fluid and antibiotic administration and wound management.
Administers basic veterinary medical treatments under guidance of an Animal Resources Veterinarian.
Notes:
Must be able to work on scheduled weekends and holidays and on occasion, off-hours if required.
Skills:
Ability to triage clinical cases and veterinary emergencies, identify abnormal from normal clinical presentations of various lab animal species, calculate and administer medications by various routes, operate basic veterinary diagnostic equipment, write medical records.
Education: Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in veterinary animal health technology or equivalent program that includes a minimum of one year practical experience performing veterinary technical procedures. AALAS certification is desirable.
