Ultrasound Technologist (PRN) - Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (FBCH)
Maxmed Healthcare is currently seeking a Ultrasound Technologist (PRN) to provide coverage services at Fort Belvior Community Hospital (FBCH).
- Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
- Perform their assigned duties with regard to all admitted patients, outpatients, and eligible beneficiaries regardless of underlying disease process or physical conditions.
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations utilizing the appropriate ultrasound equipment.
- Responsible for the independent operation of the appropriate ultrasound equipment and for communicating examination results.
- Uses cognitive Sonography skills to identify, locate, evaluate, and record data as appropriate.
- Shall perform at a minimum the following examinations independently:
- Abdominal (complete, RUQ, and the abdominal wall) Examinations
- Aorta Abdominal/Iliac Examinations
- Breast Ultrasound Examinations-(Technologist assigned to Mammography Dept.)
- Carotid Examinations
- Doppler Vein Extremity Examinations
- Endovaginal Examinations
- Extremity (between the groin and knee, upper and lower venous extremity)
- Examinations
- Gall Bladder Examinations
- Popliteal Examinations
- Liver Examinations
- Single/Multiple Gestation Examinations
- Neck Examinations
- Pelvic Examinations
- Renal/Bladder Examinations
- Spleen Examinations
- Superficial Lesion Examinations
- Testicular Examinations
- Thyroid Examinations
- Independently differentiates between normal and pathologic structures
- Consults medical history ensuring appropriateness of examination
- Schedules, coordinates, and records examination results.
- Prepares and maintains operational logs.
- Calibrates and maintains equipment, orders supplies as needed.
- Be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Complete all required paperwork
- Utilize paraprofessionals as appropriate
- Perform documentation and patient care IAW JC guidelines.
- Manages daily schedules, reviewing and dispositioning consults, monitoring appointment utilization and patient access to care, conducting mandatory clinical training, monitoring clinic supplies and equipment, ensuring enforcement of clinic SOPs and standards.
- Quality Improvement shall include the following responsibilities:
- Uphold established patient care and practice standards
- Review and submit reports as required
- Participate in all mandatory training
Requirements:
- Degree/Education: Shall have transcript verifying Technologist education provided with resume
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support; Have and maintain a valid, unrestricted and unencumbered ultrasound license in one of the 50 states in the U.S., the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Certifications shall be maintained in a current status at all times while performing services under this contract. If at any time during the contract, a contract provider does not renew any of the required certifications prior to the expiration date; he will not be allowed to work. The expense of all certification requirements shall be borne by the contract employee. Shall have and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Certificated through the American Heart Association/American Red Cross. Certifications must be maintained and renewed at no additional cost to the Government.
- Experience: Possess a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in ultrasound. Technologists performing on this contract shall possess a minimum of one (1) year experience in hands-on clinical applications within the past two year in the hospital setting, possess basic understanding of computer use keyboarding.

- Licensure/Registration: Be registered in ultrasound as recognized through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ADRMS).
