Our Opportunity
The laboratory technician is responsible for assisting in all laboratory and field research & development functions, including preparing and testing samples and reporting results to senior researchers. The position offers the opportunity to gain knowledge while working with a variety of materials relevant to the construction industry including cements, polymers, adhesives, and chemical admixtures.
Responsibilities
- Test physical and acoustic properties of cements, polymers, and adhesives from both field and laboratory preparations, using both ASTM standards and internal test procedures.
- Prepare samples for testing at a range of scales, from laboratory to full room installations. Activities include mixing powders and liquids, pouring, cutting, and polishing.
- Provide physical testing of sound mat and related activities as needed to support sound mat products and sound system development.
- Organize and maintain identification of samples originating from many locations. Record sample preparation and test result data using digital tools.
- Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment and tools. Maintain inventory of standard laboratory supplies.
- Maintain storage systems of laboratory and construction equipment and supplies.
- Gain practical application experience in multiple lab testing areas while assisting in field trials of new and existing products and in on-site technical service.
