Description of Tasks :
Oversees workers who place forms for molding concrete, install reinforcing steel, and
convey, pour, finish, and cure concrete.
Reads specifications sheets for information, such as sizes of aggregates and proportions of cement and water required, to ensure that concrete is mixed according to specifications.
Inspects bracing and shoring of concrete forms to ensure their stability before and during pouring.
Indicates positions for pouring chutes and runways, cranes, or paving machines to facilitate conveying concrete from mixer to forms.
Trains new workers.
Position Requirements :
Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Must be able to read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work.
Knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, methods and techniques. Calculate amounts of material required for each job.
Maintain safe and secure work environment by complying with government standards and legal regulations. Responsible for the health and safety of others.
2 to 4 years experience.
Physical Demands :
Must be capable of exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
Maintain physical strength and stamina. Use arms, hands, and legs fully.
Climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders.
Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and crouch for extended periods of time as required to perform duties.
Vision ability to see details at close range and details at a distance (either naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors.
Environmental Conditions :
May work outside and exposed to weather.
Wear protective or safety equipment, i.e. safety boots / shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats.
May be exposed to high levels of noise, grease, dust, and a variety of substances that are typically associated with a construction site.
Work in dusty or dirty surroundings.
