Position Overview

The Junior Buyer and Sourcing Assistant role is perfect for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a passion for furniture trends and e-commerce. You will play a key role in supporting our buying and sourcing operations, ensuring the seamless execution of product sourcing, catalog management, and supplier relationships while contributing to our data-driven decision-making process.

Sourcing & Product Development:

• Support the senior buying team with sourcing products and creating decks for outsourced partners
• Ensure product quality and adherence to Maxwood's design standards
• Assist in evaluating samples and providing feedback to suppliers
• Help maintain positive and collaborative relationships with current and potential suppliers

Market Research & Analysis

• Monitor market trends, emerging furniture designs, and consumer preferences
• Conduct competitive analysis of similar products in the market
• Analyze customer review data to identify product improvement opportunities
• Track and report on product performance metrics

E-commerce & Catalog Management

• Assist in curating and managing product assortments for the drop shipping program
• Ensure accurate and compelling product presentations in the online catalog
• Support inventory management and stock level optimization
• Collaborate with the marketing team on product photography and description requirements
• Help maintain the e-commerce platform's product data accuracy

Data & Analytics

• Perform detailed data entry and maintenance of product information
• Analyze sales data to identify trending products and categories
• Support the creation of sales forecasts and buying plans
• Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for product lines
• Assist in preparing regular performance reports for senior management

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with design, marketing, and logistics teams
• Support the creation of product launch plans and promotional strategies
• Assist in developing seasonal buying plans
• Coordinate with various departments to ensure smooth product launches

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent analytical and data interpretation abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
• Basic understanding of e-commerce platforms and digital retail
• Experience with Airtable is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Design, or related field
• Previous experience in e-commerce, retail, buying, or sourcing (internship experience accepted)
• Experience with inventory management or sourcing software
• Knowledge of furniture industry trends and manufacturing processes
• Familiarity with data visualization tools and basic statistical analysis
• Experience with digital asset management systems
