Who are we?

May Institute offers a continuum of care that begins with applied behavioral analysis (ABA) services for toddlers newly diagnosed with an ASD, and continues with school consultation, residential placement, special education schools, and adult services to meet the needs of our many clients and their families.

Part of what sets May Institute apart from other organizations is our uncompromising commitment to professionalism and excellence. Our work is grounded in evidence-based ABA practice. Our mission and vision drive us to understand each person's unique needs and find effective means to help each individual reach his or her potential and live as independently as possible. We are proud to be an active center of training and research, and we are dedicated to improving our employees' clinical understanding and creating research opportunities.

Our May Centers for ABA Services provide 1:1 ABA services for young children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities. Our intensive center-based and home-based services help children improve communication, social and behavior skills, self-help skills, and learning skills.

Who are you?

May Institute is seeking a compassionate and experienced leader who wants to make a difference in the lives of young children and families dealing with autism and other developmental delays. This position coordinates and oversees behavior analytic services for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. You will guide the development of our ABA services in the Greater Springfield area and ensure quality service and supervision. You will maintain a caseload (approximately 10-15 hours) which consists of working directly with children and families; however, most of your time will be allocated to leadership and management activities.

The Program Director is responsible for on-boarding of new employees and management of Center staff (e.g., direct therapists, senior therapists, BCBAs, administrative team members). The Program Director will also assist in managing the intake and waitlist and monitor implementation of programs for current center clients. Center-based services target the core and associated deficits of autism and our practices are derived from contemporary research in applied behavior analysis (e.g., verbal behavior). Home-based services are implemented as necessary according to treatment goals (e.g., generalization of skills to the home). This position is also responsible for developing, supervising and cultivating a growing team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Behavior Therapists.

In addition, the Program Director will manage the day-to-day practices of the program, provide oversight and manage the operating budget, performance metrics, and staffing levels. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, independent individual!

This is an exciting opportunity to…

  • Lead and further build a team committed to clinical excellence.
  • Serve as a mentor and clinical resource to other clinicians.
  • Ensure quality clinical services and implementation of best practices in treating children with autism or other developmental disabilities.
  • Help shape the direction and clinical priorities of services in the region.
  • Work with national experts in the fields of autism and other developmental disabilities, early intervention, brain injury, and behavioral health.
  • Participate in research opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in behavior analysis, psychology, or allied discipline; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA/BCBA-D).
  • 3 years of experience working with the design and implementation of treatment programs and experience in supervision and training of staff.
  • Experience managing program budgets and monitoring operational and clinical data.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems.
  • Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and patience for children and families.
  • Strong leadership and organization skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of best practices for providing ABA services for children with autism (e.g., familiarity with CASP autism guidelines as well as state regulations and service specifications for treatment of individuals within our programs).
