We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Lead Upper Elementary Teacher to join our Montessori program. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Montessori principles, be able to adhere to state standards while implementing the Montessori curriculum and demonstrate best practices in education. The Lead Teacher will work collaboratively with an Assistant Teacher to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment for students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Implementation: Implement the Montessori curriculum for upper elementary students, ensuring alignment with state standards and best practices in education. Plan and facilitate lessons, activities, and projects that cater to the diverse needs and interests of students.
- Student Progress and Assessment: Provide regular reporting on student progress, including tracking their academic, social, and emotional development. Administer three MAP tests throughout the academic year to assess student learning and inform instructional planning.
- Parent and Community Engagement: Lead two parent-teacher conferences in spring and winter to discuss student progress, goals, and areas for growth. Participate in school events, including parent education sessions, open houses, and other community-building activities.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Work collaboratively with the Assistant Teacher to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Attend departmental staff meetings to collaborate with colleagues, share insights, and contribute to the overall improvement of the program.
- Classroom Environment: Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued, respected, and empowered to take ownership of their learning. Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.
- Professional Development: Continuously engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay updated on the latest research and trends in education.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field; Montessori Elementary II certification.
- Previous experience teaching in a Montessori upper elementary classroom.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of Montessori principles, methodologies, and materials.
- Familiarity with state standards and educational best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents.
- Flexibility, creativity, and adaptability in responding to the diverse needs of students.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines effectively.
