We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Montessori Spanish and Physical Education (PE) Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in Montessori education and proficiency in Spanish language instruction for children ranging from toddlers to upper elementary students. The Teacher will be responsible for creating a nurturing and immersive learning environment where students can develop proficiency in Spanish while fostering a love for learning and appreciation for diverse cultures. The teacher will also provide high-quality physical education to children from primary school through the secondary program.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive Spanish language curriculum for toddlers through upper elementary students, incorporating Montessori principles and best practices in language acquisition.
- Create engaging and interactive lesson plans and materials that cater to different learning styles and levels of proficiency.
- Utilize hands-on activities, games, songs, stories, and cultural experiences to enhance language learning and cultural understanding.
- Integrate Spanish vocabulary and language structures into practical life activities, outdoor experiences, and interdisciplinary projects.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel confident to take risks, make mistakes, and actively participate in Spanish language learning.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support individualized learning goals and growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community members to enhance the Spanish language program and promote cultural exchange opportunities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in Montessori education and language instruction.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that aligns with the Montessori philosophy.
- Assess and document students’ progress in physical education.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to integrate physical education with other areas of the Montessori curriculum.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s physical education experience and progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Spanish, or a related field preferred.
- Montessori certification (AMI or AMS)preffered.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish language.
- Experience teaching Spanish to children in a Montessori or early childhood education setting.
- Strong understanding of child development and language acquisition theories.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
- Certification in physical education or a relevant teaching qualification.
- Previous experience teaching physical education to children, preferably within a Montessori or similar educational setting.
Job Details:
Hours: Regular schedule Monday through Friday
Additional Requirements: occasional evening hours for special events such as parent night, parent education, and graduation.
