The Associate Executive Director of the Maya Collection plays a strong leadership role, working closely with the Executive Director to guide the organization and its Christian mission. Key responsibilities include leading the Maya Collection team, shaping a vision for the organization’s future, and overseeing financial operations. Over time, the Associate Executive Director will transition into the Executive Director role.
The Maya Collection’s mission is to empower and uplift local refugee women and teens through mentorship, discipleship, and artisan skill development. By teaching crafts such as jewelry making, leatherworking, and sewing handbags, the organization provides opportunities for women to thrive in the community. These handcrafted products are sold both locally and online to support this mission.
This role offers flexibility, requiring a commitment of three to four days per week.

Job DescriptionLeadership
Provide effective and thoughtful leadership by building strong relationships with the Maya team, volunteers, artisans, customers and wholesale shop owners.
Leading weekly team meetings to discuss what will need to be done that week, celebrate positive steps taken and discuss any problems needing attention. Review shared calendar,
Provide vision and motivation, contributing to the implementation of the mission statement. Creating and following implementation plans for the organization’s success.
Staff Development and Growth
Professional Development. Foster a working environment that is learning and growing together. Recommend leadership podcasts and books.
Financial Oversight
Oversee our Quickbooks account and on a monthly basis, reviewing results with our bookkeeper
Program Oversight and Program Operations.
Work with the team to make sure we are “working smarter not harder” and balancing the business (providing quality products that sell well in the marketplace) and ministry (sharing the love of Christ with staff, artisans, customers and wholesale shop owners). Watch for problems and find solutions.
Events – Community Outreach & Fundraising
Be involved with events and workshops at the Bloom House (our own small boutique) or another location if needed. Help with some sales events like the St Matthews Farmers market. Stay in communication with our donors and seek church partners.
