The Mayfield/Graves County Art Guild Director is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the art guild shop, including overseeing staff/volunteers, planning and budgeting, organizing shows with local artists, planning and hiring artists to teach classes at the guild, and promoting the art guild. They must understand art and be able to maintain relationships with artists and businesses to plan and organize art shows throughout the year. Additionally, they should have strong communication and organizational skills to ensure all Mayfield/Graves County Art Guild operations are running smoothly.
Art Guild Director Summary
The Art Guild Director is responsible for overseeing all operations and activities associated with the Mayfield/Graves County Art Guild. This includes developing and executing strategies to increase sales; managing budgets; creating and implementing marketing plans; overseeing staff/volunteers; and cultivating relationships with artists, donors, and the community for art shows and fundraising.
Art Guild Director Duties
- Plan, coordinate, and manage activities of the art guild
- Develop and implement gallery policies and procedures with approval from board
- Oversee the care and maintenance of art collections
- Organize shows and fundraising events
- Supervise and train art guild staff/volunteers
- Promote the art guild through marketing campaigns
- Prepare and manage budgets for shows and shop/guild expenses
- Maintain records of artwork, transactions, and art guild activities
Art Guild Director Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with artists
- Financial and budget management experience
- Experience in fundraising and art show planning/management
- Strong organizational and planning skills
Art Guild Director Requirements
- High school diploma: college degree preferred
- Knowledge of art
- Proven ability to manage staff, budgets, and organizing art shows or something similar
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
