Janitorial Technician

SUMMARY:

The Janitorial Technician will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our facility. You will perform various cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for employees, visitors, and customers. The ideal candidate should have excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors, to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Restock and organize supplies, such as paper towels, soap dispensers, and toiletries, in restrooms and other designated areas. Notify the supervisor or designated colleague when stores need to be restocked.
• Clean and sanitize common areas, including lobbies, hallways, conference rooms,  and break rooms, to provide a pleasant and hygienic environment..
• Perform routine interior and exterior cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility.
• Empty and dispose of indoor and outdoor trash and recycling materials in designated areas.
• Monitor and report any maintenance or repair needs, such as broken fixtures, leaking pipes, or malfunctioning equipment, to the appropriate department.
• Monitor and maintain the appearance of entrances, parking lots, and outdoor areas, including picking up litter, removing debris, and maintaining floor/area drains.
• Address immediate cleaning needs and spills promptly to prevent accidents and maintain safety standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and walk-throughs of the facility to identify areas in need of cleaning, maintenance, or repairs.
• Follow established safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Follow proper cleaning techniques and use cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality and respecting the privacy of employees and visitors.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and effective cleaning operations.
• Respond to requests and inquiries from employees, visitors, and customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Assist with morning and afternoon traffic duties.
• Assist with Parking Enforcement / Security
• Assist with setting up and takedown furniture and equipment for events or meetings.
• May be asked to perform minor repairs including but not limited to changing light bulbs / tubes, unclogging toilets, cleaning aerators, painting, etc. 
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.                                                                                                     SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
• Proven experience in janitorial or custodial work is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
• Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting heavy objects, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with employees, visitors, and customers.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

Work is performed indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to inclement weather; exposure to dust, oils, and cleaning chemicals; may work on ladders, some exposure to children and regular contact with staff and the public
