Driver/ Warehouse Worker
Job Description
Primarily works in warehouse. Unloads shipments from trucks, moves merchandise and products to required locations within warehouse. Also fills customer orders and loads products onto trucks for daily deliveries. Occasionally drives a company truck to make route deliveries of various products (janitorial and cleaning supplies, industrial packaging, and food service and office supplies) to company customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in loading delivery truck, ensuring load is properly distributed and secured.
- Ensure delivery of correct items to the customer.
- Assist shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders and distributing to sales associates for processing.
- Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for stock items and distribute items to shipping or to designated route driver storage area.
- Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or relocates orders to a holding area.
- Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned truck and refer defects or repairs to supervisor.
- Record items received or distributed.
- Prepare parcels for delivery.
- Maintain and organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED plus at least 3 months’ experience as a driver.
Licensing and Certification:
- Possess current valid Texas driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass DOT medical certification (at company’s expense) for drivers of commercial motor vehicles.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
· Must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
· Must be able to withstand riding in cab of truck with and without load, must be able to grasp handle and pull self into a position to climb into the truck cab and bed multiple times per day.
