Mayfield Senior School of the Holy Child Jesus, an independent Catholic girls high school in Pasadena, California, seeks a mission-driven, dynamic, and student-centered Mathematics Teacher for the 2025-26 school year.
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in best practices in teaching mathematics for girls and embrace the Holy Child philosophy of education which emphasizes innovation, academic excellence, and a joy of learning. He or she should be able to inspire and engage students, fostering an environment where student agency is paramount and students develop confidence in their academic abilities. Additionally, the candidate should espouse a whole-child approach to education, recognizing and nurturing each student's unique strengths, needs, and potential.

Reporting directly to the Assistant Head of School:
- Reflect the school’s mission and core values as a Holy Child school.
- Create and deliver engaging AP® Statistics and Algebra II with Trigonometry curricula in a secondary school context.
- Possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all constituents.
- Value and embrace diversity and inclusive educational practices.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive classroom by modeling expected behavior and standards.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, materials, and resources, and encourage collaborative work in the classroom, teaching students to communicate effectively and thoughtfully.
- Embrace educational technology and curricular innovation, integrating new tools and methods to enhance teaching and learning.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to further develop inclusive teaching and leadership practices.
- Collaborate well with colleagues on pedagogical approaches, curricular alignment, and instructional strategies.
- Invest in the life of the school by participating in the advisory program, department, grade-level, and faculty meetings, and all aspects that support the student experience.
- Respond to individual learning needs with a student-centered approach.
- Develop and implement varied assessment tools to perform both formative and summative assessment; consistently and effectively evaluate student progress.
- Practice a positive approach to classroom management.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience; independent school and/or girls school experience preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, administrators, and families.
- Reflect the school’s mission and core values as a Holy Child school.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in education.
- Experience with differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Strong classroom management skills with an emphasis on student engagement and positive reinforcement.

Salary & Benefits
- The annual salary range for this position is $66,320-$79,584, based on years of experience and educational qualifications, in alignment with Mayfield Senior School’s teaching salary scale.
