EDUCATOR
Maymont is a 100-acre historic estate and park, located in Richmond, Virginia, with many unique experiences for all to enjoy, including the historic Maymont Mansion, The Robins Nature Center, arboretum, formal gardens, and habitats for native Virginia wildlife and farm animals. Since 1975, Maymont has been maintained and operated by the nonprofit Maymont Foundation, committed to creating experiences that delight, educate and inspire its guests.
The Maymont Foundation is seeking a full-time, non-formal Educator to implement a wide variety of educational programming including environmental, historical, and other learning experiences throughout the grounds. This position reports to the Manager of Education.
Essential Functions :
- Participate in the planning, development, scheduling, and implementation of educational, community, and outreach programming with a focus on Maymont's goals to expand diversity and promote equity and inclusion
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of resources, for all education and outreach programs and incorporates state and national standards of learning curriculum
- Facilitates in-person and virtual programming aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning within the Maymont Mansion and outdoors in the historical gardens and grounds.
- Provide proper animal care to environmental education animals under the direction of the Senior Manager of Zoology
- Assist with collecting evaluations, program attendance and visitation numbers for monthly and annual reports
- Represent the education department at various institutional meetings
- Work effectively with other departments
- Represent Maymont at public speaking engagements and events as requested
- Support Maymont community and fundraising events, which may occur outside normal work schedule
- Assists with other duties and tasks as assigned
