Job Description

- Receives and vouchers personal property.
- Reports to the desk officer any unusual physical condition of prisoners in custody, or in the detention area.
- Attending to the personal needs of prisoners such as providing food, coffee, clothing, blankets and other essentials.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the cells; checks cells for dangerous items and for properly operating doors.
- Preparing forms and maintains records relevant to assigned duties.
- In the absence of prisoners, performing other clerical or appropriate duties as directed.
Minimum Qual Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
