SUMMARY OF CLASSIFICATION:
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Metal Material Handler to manage the movement and storage of metal materials within our warehouse. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling various types of metals and will ensure the efficient and safe operation of material handling equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Load, unload, and move metal materials within the production area using forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
- Inspect and verify incoming metal materials for accuracy and quality.
- Receive returned material and route to specified areas for salvage, rework or scrap as directed.
- Check received goods against purchase orders or receiving papers. Check quantity, type, size, part numbers of dimensions, etc. to properly identify materials.
- Organize and store metal materials in designated areas.
- Maintain inventory records and update the warehouse management system.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed.
- Operate power lift trucks and hand trucks to transport materials, machines parts, and products as directed.
- Maintain uninterrupted flow of piece parts to department and/or work cell.
- May work from routings, manufacturing instruction sheets, blueprints, visual aids, or other instructions to anticipate production requirements.
- Utilize idle time for clean-up, combining loads/shop releases, and performing production operations in areas of assigned responsibility.
- Use weighing and counting scales as required.
- Maintain records and prepare receiving and shipping reports
- Perform Cycle counts regularly.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems with computer literacy.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft suite / Word & Excel
- Maintain power equipment by performing basic services check daily and report malfunctions to supervisor.
- Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A high school diploma or the equivalency is perfered.
- Proven experience as a material handler, preferably with metals.
- Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials.
- Basic computer skills for inventory management.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Must possess a valid lift truck driver’s license within a month of placement in the position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 50 lbs. Employees also frequently bend, twist, and reach and may stand and/or walk up to 8 hours per day.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Job required PPE; such as safety shoes, glasses and gloves while handling material.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.50 - $19.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
