Overview
Analyzes drawings, specifications, and other relevant materials to calculate detailed cost estimates for fabricated products. Includes determining resource requirements such as materials, machinery, labor, processes, tooling, and setup times. Must have metal fabrication estimating experience or strong familiarity with fabrication equipment and methods (laser, forming, welding, stamping, assembly, etc.).
Responsibilities
Conducts analysis of technical documentation to identify and quantify resource requirements to ensure estimate accuracy.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with teams such as sales, engineering, purchasing, tooling and operations to gather insights, resolve issues, and ensure accurate and realistic cost estimates.
- Engages with outside vendors to establish costs for items not supported internally.
- Collaborates with sales application engineering on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) cost and quality improvement proposals.
- Maintains updated knowledge of manufacturing processes, capabilities, and constraints.
- Enters quote requirements into the company's quoting tool and uses discretion to change outputs as necessary.
