What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner/Buyer position at Mayville Engineering Company, Inc.?
Overview
This position will support the MEC/Atkins, VA plant while being located in Byron Center MI. This is a key role in the success of this division that will require excellent communication, teamwork, planning and approximately 10% travel.
Responsibilities
- Establishing, managing, reviewing and maintaining a master schedule
- Making adjustments to the master production schedule to ensure that inventory levels and customer service goals are maintained, and proper capacity and material planning occur; manage volatility in orders
- Developing and reordering information on each part to support customer requirements
- In depth knowledge of forecasting in build-to-order, build-to-stock, and assembly-to-order environment
- Knowledge of lean concepts (TPS) as it relates to scheduling functions
- Correspond directly with customers/suppliers on a daily basis
- Assists the Sales Lead and Plant Contacts on managing the customer accounts
- Communicate and coordinate with MEC’s internal departments
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Operates with high integrity; builds trust, quickly wins and sustains credibility in relationships with others
- Interpersonal skills; organizational skills and multitasking ability
- Effectively negotiate customer dates on “drop in” orders based off start of production
- Work effectively with team: collaborative problem solving, respect for deadlines, punctuality and open communication
- Works with account lead/commercialization on resolution of customer complaints.
- Manage purchase orders and EDI compliance
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university with one to four years related experience. 4-5 years of experience is preferred.
