We’re so glad you are interested in the Supply Chain Intern role. This position will be based out of Byron Center, MI, only minutes from beautiful downtown Grand Rapids. While at MEC, you will lead several special projects within the Purchasing organization, to drive value into the enterprise.
Founded in 1945, MEC is a manufacturer that provides a broad range of Prototyping, Metal Fabrication, Tube Bending, Machining, Welding, Coating, and Value-Added Assembly services to a variety of markets including Commercial Vehicle, Power Sports & Recreational Vehicles, Agriculture, Construction & Forestry, Military, Mining, Automotive, and Power Generation. We continue to have an aggressive growth plan, operating 22 manufacturing facilities which are strategically located near our customers.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the collection, analysis, benchmarking and reporting of data to build andmaintain category spend and pricing databases.
- Develop and issue simple RFX’s.
- Perform value analysis and total cost of ownership analytical activities.
- Monitor and report savings to Strategic Sourcing Commodity Lead.
- Interact with stakeholders to develop service specification levels.
- Participate in cross-functional teams that will assess the opportunities and supply markets
- In order to develop, implement and institutionalize various sourcing strategies.
- Help build supplier relationships.
- Gather and review data to support category management / strategic sourcing activities (i.e.specifications, statements of work, performance terms, and/or acceptance criteria)
- Understanding financial impact to all negotiations and assisting Strategic Sourcing Leadwith negotiations and contract pricing and terms.

Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a BS program with a major in Supply Chain or a degree related toSupply Chain or Operations emphasis
- Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits
- Availability to work 40 hours per week, on-site.
