Position Description: Mayville State University Child Development Programs is hiring a Classroom Float who is responsible for assisting teachers in providing high-quality classroom educational services to children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. This position involves a high level of teamwork. This position must have great communication and organizational skills. This position is accountable for supporting curriculum implementation, participating in evaluation of educational progress, and providing a safe, educational environment for the children. Respect for families as the child’s first teacher and fellow staff members is essential to this position. Applicants may receive financial assistance in obtaining continuing education. CDP employees may qualify for student loan forgiveness.
Required Competencies:
- Be an adult of good physical, cognitive, social, and emotional health, and shall use mature judgment when making decisions impacting the quality of childcare
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
- Strong communication skills (interpersonal, written, and oral)
- Experience working with diverse populations
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have or be willing to obtain a CDA credential OR

Qualifying degrees - must be a 2 or 4-year degree:
- AA ECE
- BA ECE
- BSED ECE
- BSED Elem Ed with ECE Minor
- Degrees in Child Development and Family Sciences may be acceptable; transcript will be checked after submission of required application materials.
- Experience working with children birth to age 5 and their families.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Head Start/Early Head Start regulations.
