Job Title: Grounds Crew/Heating Plant Operator
Location: Mayville State University, Mayville, ND
Compensation: Hiring Range - $38,175.42 - $45,810.51 to commensurate with experience

Position Information: Mayville State University is seeking to fill a full-time position responsible for maintaining the aesthetic and functional aspects of the campus grounds and ensuring the efficient and safe operation of heating systems.
Key Competencies:
Summer Season
- Maintain campus grounds by mowing, trimming, and weeding
- Weed control and spraying
- Flower bed preparation, watering, fertilizing, and applying bed mulch
- Maintain flower beds
- Trimming and removal of trees
- Upkeep of state fleet vehicles (Cleaning interior and exterior)
- Assisting with building maintenance as needed
- Assisting with heating maintenance
- Maintain appropriate equipment for named duties
Winter Season
- Provide snow shoveling of steps, doorways, and approaches
- Plow and snow blow sidewalks, parking lots, and driveways
- Sand and salt where needed
- Maintain appropriate equipment for named duties
- Upkeep of state fleet vehicles (Cleaning interior and exterior)
- Assist with ongoing maintenance within the heating plant and on campus, as needed
- Cleaning heating plant and facilities buildings as needed
- Operate high pressure boilers to maintain consistent steam flow through campus, as needed
- Observe water pressure, steam pressure, and check gauges, sensors, and water levels, as needed
- Perform chemical testing and salt levels, as needed
Position Details:
- Work Schedule: Sunday through Thursday (flexible)
- Hours: Full-time, 40-hour week with occasional overtime
- Flexible Hours: Daytime hours during the summer season and late afternoon/evening hours preferred during the winter season
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Horticulture – flowers, plants, trees, & shrubs
- Knowledge of Mechanical Pumps
- Knowledge of skid steer, Bobcat equipment and snow removal equipment
- Knowledge of high pressure boilers and related equipment, power tools, and test equipment
