What You Do
Will provide leadership to the body weld lines through clearly established two-way communication regarding goals and actions by use of Floor Management Systems, ensuring alignment of Body Weld activities to support business plan priorities, leading production improvement strategies, technology advances and providing leadership to group leaders and team leaders, fostering their development and the development of the body weld team members.
As a part of the above, and on an ongoing basis will also
- Establish strong team member relations, at all levels and provide support for people development, coaching, and mentoring with a focus on teamwork and inclusion
- Work closely with advisors from Mazda and Toyota
- Create production improvement strategies relative to KPI (safety, quality, productivity, and cost) achievement and support Group Leaders through Team Members in translating those strategies into concrete action plans by use of Floor Management Systems
- Lead Strategic Planning for sustainable daily operations
- Ensure alignment of activities to support the business plan
- Share information and communicate goals within and outside of the department
- Clearly report/present status to upper management when necessary
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to problem-solve and implement countermeasures when necessary
- Lead Takt Change planning, line rebalancing, trials, and training activity
- Introduction of new models and support new model development and activities
- Create group leader development plans to ensure readiness and ability to effectively coach team members
- Support introduction of new welding technologies when applicable
- Validate standardize work instruction for body weld production processes
- Develop and manage shop safety program and manage timely implementation of countermeasures to resolve problems
- Ensure white metal body quality and coordinate activity with the team to improve body weld quality
- Promote problem solving activities within and outside of the department
- Lead activity to eliminate production bottle necks and/or chronic downtime utilizing Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA)
- Identify muda (waste) in body weld process and implement activities to improve efficiency
- Manage both capital and operating budgets for labor, materials, improvement projects, etc.
- Cultivate a professional workforce that is representative of the Diversity and Inclusion initiative
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the department
- Be available to work outside of normal work schedule, including but not limited to weekends, holidays, shutdowns, and travel as needed (domestically and internationally)
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years’ supervisory experience in an equivalent role or internal demonstrated experience
- Proficiency in cross functional, cross company, and cross-sectional processes
- Strong ability to problem-solve with a high mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Products
What Will Set You Apart
- 5 years’ supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably automotive body weld
- Experience developing and implementing actions plans to support business goals and objectives
- Budget planning and/or management experience (to include both operating and capital budgets)
- Working knowledge of stamping/body weld production processes
- Demonstrated knowledge of stamping and body weld environmental requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of body accuracy requirements and datum structures
- Experience with high-volume automation including robotics and PLC’s
