What You Do
This dual-role position involves performing industrial maintenance tasks within Mazda Toyota while also serving as an educational resource in local schools, teaching practical skills related to industrial maintenance, production, safety, and trades education. The role requires strong technical skills, a passion for sharing knowledge, a good demeanor around children, and a commitment to community engagement.
As a part of the above, and on an ongoing basis will also:
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on industrial equipment, machinery, electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Perform predictive maintenance to ensure the continued reliability of critical equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and document equipment status and repairs performed.
- Adhere to and enforce safety regulations and best practices, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with production teams and external vendors to ensure equipment is maintained to the highest standard.
- Work with local schools to assist the instructor so they can deliver hands-on lessons and workshops on industrial maintenance, trades, production skills, standardized work, and safety protocols.
- Provide knowledge and experience to school instructors regarding fundamental skills in areas such as mechanical systems, electrical wiring, hydraulics, and preventive maintenance, standardized processes, production qualifications.
- Support instructor in creating a positive and engaging learning environment to encourage students to explore and develop an interest in industrial jobs.
- Serve as a resource to the teachers, answer student’s questions regarding their desire of pursuing careers in industrial maintenance, technical fields or production jobs.
- Serve as a resource to school administrators to align workshops with the school’s curriculum and community needs.
- Help find gaps in teaching curriculum (5s, standardized work, POA) and create solutions for the gaps.
What You Bring
- 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance, facilities maintenance
- (For Internals Only) Current Maintenance Group Leader with a minimum of one year in the role
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical wiring, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial control systems.
- Willingness to mentor the instructor in giving guidance to the students in industrial needs and capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse audiences, and youth.
- Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Ability to balance industrial maintenance responsibilities with teaching duties and adapt to changing schedules.
