What You Do
What You Do
Create, lead and manage MTM’s industrial hygiene program in adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory compliance, as well as MTM’s Safety Management System requirements.
Serve as MTM subject matter expert in ergonomics, and function as a technical lead / resource for production on ergonomics topics.
Create, lead and manage ergonomics program, including but not limited to : pre-production part and process design review, current model ergonomic problem solving, and leading countermeasure activity to confirm company safety and ergo standard implementation within all processes.
As a part of the above, and on an ongoing basis will also :
Identify and evaluate, design and implement program for controlling environmental factors in the workplace that could cause illness, discomfort or impaired health (Industrial Hygiene)
Respiratory Protection Program, including Air Sampling, Fit Testing, and Team Member Training for VOC, CO2, Welding emissions, and other potential industrial hygiene risks
Ventilation assessments
Confined space identification and audit, data tracking and program management
Hearing Conservation Program, sampling, audiogram, and training
Laser & radiation safety
Manage manufacturing sampling plans to establish operating compliance, interpret and respond to abnormality management
Provide leadership and team member level feedback on results and process control changes to support ongoing compliance
Identify and evaluate, design and implement workplace design and arrangement to best suit the needs of the worker
Detailed understanding of ergonomic risk factors, design and implementation to provide guidance to MTM Leadership, Production Engineering, and Pilot (Ergonomics)
Responsible for injury reduction and discomfort while maximizing safety, quality and productivity – quantitative and qualitative evaluations
Work Conditioning, Early Intervention Care, PDA Program
Workforce management and pre-hire evaluation process
All early intervention programs, including direct team member care and proactive injury prevention programs
Physical Demands analysis creation, audit, and update
Ergonomic risk assessment program management and tracking (process, conveyance, other)
Ergonomic training programs (engineering, manufacturing, other)
New model design evaluation and countermeasure processes (vehicle pilot activities)
Introduction of new technology to reduce ergonomic risk (ex. Exoskeletons) and risk reduction kaizen
Safety Lead for all packaging safety assurance in new model design, current model problem solving, problem identification and countermeasure, and continuous improvement activities.
Create, Lead and Manage MTM Workforce Safety Programs, including :
Work Restrictions Audits and process improvements
Minor Musculoskeletal Discomfort Program monitoring, improvement, and training
TM Placement & pre hire evaluation process improvements
Job Fit analysis
Early symptom reporting and tracking
Engineering design and control subject matter expert
Work closely with advisors from Mazda and Toyota
Develop and execute targeted action plans to improve overall site safety KPIs
Track, monitor, and report on safety trend and perform problem solving for data analysis
Identify and prioritize risks related to safety issues and conditions and develop sustainable action plans to reduce and / or eliminate those risks in alignment with company and department objectives
Provide safety support for both plant wide and specific production areas through floor activities, team member engagement, regulatory knowledge, and proactive activity to establish safety culture and regulatory compliance
Execute the MTM safety management system in alignment with ISO45001
Engage with shops to maintain OSHA compliance, as well as compliance with all other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
Support and serve as technical lead for incident investigations, specifically pertaining to areas of subject matter expertise
Provide leadership and support for plant wide safety and shop safety programs and activities, including safety culture development.
Support development and implementation of Safety Management System, in alignment with ISO 45001.
Implement programs and projects to foster continuous improvement and risk reduction.
Influence team member behavior as it relates to Safety priorities and interact with team members through Safety Task Force, department meetings, incident investigations, and projects
Implement shop and plant projects to improve safety systems and culture, to include OSHA Safety Compliance and Culture-based or other programs designed to improve plant safety and awareness
Audit processes related to assigned Safety compliance programs (e.g. HAZCOM implementation and program elements)
Lead MTM Business Partners to manage performance of MTM’s Total Woker Health vendors and programs including job scope, expectations, safety, and schedules.
Work with manager and Business Partners to manage annual budget for MTM Total Worker Health vendors.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the department
Be available to work outside of normal work schedule, including but not limited to weekends, holidays, shutdowns, and travel as needed (domestically and internationally)
What You Bring
High School Diploma or GED
Familiarity with Regulatory Safety compliance (must have demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and NFPA Safety requirements)
Knowledge of safety promotion and / or safety culture
Knowledge of safety policy creation and implementation, safety training, safety investigation, reporting, database management and risk assessment
Capability to develop, lead and prioritize work, meet milestones, gain consensus, and report out status of projects
What Will Set You Apart
Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or related field and / or equivalent experience (5-10 years, Ergonomics or Industrial Hygiene preferred)
Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, and / or manufacturing safety experience
Relevant audit experience (ISO / management system, program, and / or process audits)
Safety training experience (OSHA 10 / OSHA 30, and / or compliance training)
Familiarity with safety management systems (ISO 45001)
Certification in specific area of expertise (CSP, CPE, PE, CIH, etc.)
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and / or Toyota Production System
