Position Summary
A Fabrication/Welding Team Leader at Mazzella would oversee and coordinate the activities of the fabrication and welding teams to ensure efficient production processes and high-quality products.
Requirements
Job Duties:
- Team Supervision: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fabricators and welders, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
- Production Planning: Collaborate with management to schedule and prioritize fabrication and welding tasks, aligning with project timelines and customer requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor work quality, conduct inspections, and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain high production standards. Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements, cost reductions, and efficiency improvements within the fabrication and welding operations.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all team members comply with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates to management on team performance, project status, and any issues affecting production.

Experience & Skills
- Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team of fabricators and welders. Experience in managing and resolving conflicts within the team. Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Welding and Fabrication Expertise: In-depth knowledge of various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.) Experience with blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and understanding welding symbols. Proficiency in fabrication processes, including cutting, welding, and assembly.
- Technical Skills: Expertise with welding equipment, machinery, and tools. Understanding of metal types and their properties, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. Knowledge of quality control procedures and the ability to perform inspections.
- Project Management Skills: Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines. Experience in managing production schedules, material handling, and workflow optimization.
- Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of OSHA safety regulations and industry standards. Experience in implementing and enforcing safety protocols in the workplace.
- Communication Skills: Clear and concise communication with team members, management, and customers. Ability to provide constructive feedback and training to team members.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in measuring, welding, and fabricating parts to meet exact specifications. Strong focus on quality control and ensuring all work is completed to high standards.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify issues in the fabrication or welding process and implement effective solutions.
- Physical Stamina and Dexterity: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, lifting, and operating heavy machinery.
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify.
