Position Summary:
Inspect, install, and repair commercial door and firestop systems according to specific UL/FM assembly details and applicable NFPA and IBC/IFC code requirements. Assist the jobsite foreman with all physical aspects of each project including verbal communications with customers as needed.
Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid NC driver’s license.
- Strong mechanical inclination and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in carpentry and drywall installation.
- Experience with both powered and hand tools.
- Experience with powered caulk dispensers and paint sprayers.
- Experience with low voltage access control and automatic door systems is a plus.
- Ability to navigate common blueprints and construction documents.
- Ability to efficiently use computers, tablets, and other technology.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus.
- General building practice and commercial construction knowledge.
- General understanding of tested and listed fire and smoke rated structures.
- Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Must have a positive and cooperative attitude and excellent attendance.
- Must be able to communicate respectfully and professionally with fellow workers, other MEP tradesmen, inspectors, customers, and the public.
- Properly use safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
