Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
- Seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the U.S. Postal Service's Package Sorting Technology Group designing and developing mechanical systems, creating detailed drawings, and ensuring precision through Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Possess expertise in 3D modeling and 2D drawings and demonstrate proficiency with both solid modeling and MS Office Suite tools.
- Interpret and apply changes from redlined "From-To " drawing markups.
- Develop solutions for challenges such as end-of-life part replacements, equipment enhancements, and production equipment analysis.
- Design, develop, and test mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
- Utilize engineering principles to create products such as instruments, robots, machines, and controls.
- Contribute to the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and / or repair of mechanical products.
- Follow established guidelines and instructions to complete assigned tasks.
- Work under immediate supervision, reporting directly to a supervisor or manager.
- Independently complete mechanical design projects, including concept creation, detailing, and final design.
- Develop and refine 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical components and assemblies using solid modeling software.
- Apply GD&T principles to ensure accurate and consistent design dimensions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support package sorting and material handling systems.
- Conduct engineering analyses and prepare technical documentation.
- Utilize MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) for communication, reporting, and presentations.
