Project Manager - Major Construction

MBA Consulting Services (MBA CSi) is actively seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager – Major Construction to support our government customer in Johnson City, TN. This critical role will focus on managing major construction and renovation projects for Local Processing Centers (LPCs) as part of a large-scale infrastructure modernization effort for the U.S. Postal Service (USPS).

As the Project Manager of Major Construction, you will lead efforts to optimize LPC operations that are key to modernizing the USPS mail and package delivery network. The new LPCs will play a vital role by:

• Sorting flat and letter mail for efficient local delivery routes.
• Acting as collection points for packages en route to delivery.
• Reducing transit times and processing costs through strategic positioning near Regional Processing and Distribution Centers (RPDCs).

Some LPCs will be co-located within RPDCs, enhancing efficiency and cutting transportation costs. Distances between LPCs and their RPDCs will vary from 20 to 200 miles, offering a range of challenges and opportunities for strategic oversight.

In this role, you’ll work on-site alongside the Manager of Modernization Implementation, becoming an essential contributor to the USPS’s infrastructure transformation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct construction management for larger or more complex construction projects
• Communicate directly with contractors/designers concerning project cost, staffing, and scheduling
• Prepare project status reports and work to ensure plans adhere to contract specifications
• Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Performs a variety of tasks
• Lead and direct the work of others
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
• Typically reports to top management

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred, but a degree in any technical discipline is acceptable
• 7 years of project management with IT experience in the field of major construction/building renovation
• Proficiency developing and maintaining POA&Ms in MS Project
• Experience developing and maintaining PERT charts
• MS Office Suite, specifically Project, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours when needed
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check & drug test
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
