Summary
This position will oversee and optimize the sheet metal fabrication processes within our facility. This role is responsible for improving production efficiency, ensuring quality standards, and implementing cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze data and facilitate efforts to reduce part defects and reduce internal scrap in the shop.
- Convert CAD of varying forms to machine files to be used at a production level. Manage all production files.
- Maintain and program CNC Laser and Press Brake using production level CAD.
- Create quality control plan(s) for parts produced in the shop.
- Build out quality assessment techniques with CMM technology and create device training documents.
- Analyze shop efficiency, perform time studies and assess shop capacity.
- Assess manufacturability of new parts integration.
- Provide creative solutions for future shop improvements.
- Assist other internal engineering teams with prototyping, programming and shop use.
- Aid in part revision for all downstream customers.
- Lead improvement projects based on internal quality data and customer feedback.
- Aid in the launch of new products by developing new/revised test and inspection techniques.
- Ensure product/process tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out, and evaluated and that product/process modifications are investigated if necessary.
- Develop tools/fixtures to aid in the process and improve efficiency.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or 4 years related experience, including relevant training and certifications in auditing, six sigma, data analysis, quality, manufacturing, marine industry, and/or other engineering disciplines.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret prints, drawings, schematics, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Other Qualifications:
- Strong corrective action and troubleshooting background required
- Experience managing projects or leading a team required
- Boat manufacturing experience a plus
- Six Sigma training a plus
- Ability to travel (<5%) with little notice

Typical 10-hour work days, with frequent overtime, including Fridays, as required to meet demand. Safety glasses and/or hearing protection required when in designated production areas. Must follow task specific safety procedures within other departments.

Additional Desirable Skills and Experience: ABYC knowledge, ISO experience, Six Sigma, Lean, presentation skills, report writing, data analysis, Auditor training, computer skills (E.g. Excel, Word, Access, MS Project, PowerPoint, etc.) preferred. General boating experience a plus.
