Summary
The position oversees supplier performance and quality improvement activities for multiple manufacturing locations. Job duties include supplier evaluation and technical support to purchasing with a focus on cost control for nonconforming scrap and quality improvement. Work in partnership with Engineering and Supply Chain teams to mitigate and control risks for supplied parts/material related to Quality and/or Delivery performance. Continuously drive improvement actions including Problem Solving, Auditing, Material Management, and Supplier capability. The position also oversees Monsoon Engine compliance with ISO standards and certification.
To be successful in the Supplier Quality Manager position disruption of supplier parts to the production process will be controlled & insignificant. ISO certification process will be maintained consistently through 3rd party and internal audits/meetings. Internal process/product compliance to marine standards will be withheld. Holds and external corrective actions resulting from supplier parts avoided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor and communicate supplier KPIs and measurements to ensure performance. Ensure reporting and performance information is available to MBI management team.
- Support New Product Development programs and sourcing of new parts including PPAP part validations.
- Develop and implement quality plans for purchased parts.
- Hire, train, and manage staff to ensure performance and development of both salary and hourly personnel.
- Lead cross-functional teams when responding to supplier quality occurrences to ensure a complete and verified response with urgency.
- Coordinate preventative and corrective action between facilities and suppliers.
- Convey/control quality expectations to suppliers such as 24-hour response, containment and financial responsibility for supplier related quality issues.
- Coordinate and perform supplier assessments and qualifications for potential/new suppliers.
- Perform capability assessments with key suppliers to evaluate the application of quality tools, manufacturing capabilities, lean maturity, performance reviews, root cause investigation, and corrective action verification.
- Coach and assist suppliers in the use of RCA and CAPA methods/tools.
- Drive improvement plans and coordinate completion of actions to close performance gaps and nonconformance.
- Maintain exceptional working relationship with quality counterparts at key suppliers.
- Lead supplier containment actions for quality spills and product improvement.
- Oversee supplier return material authorization (RMA), chargeback collection for labor and supporting expenses.
- Monitor and track overall supplier recovery charges including working with accounting on proper attribution of credit memos.
- Facilitate daily material review process and corrective actions.
- Participate/lead field campaign activities with suppliers and Malibu team in compliance with USCG requirements.
- Facilitate monthly Senior Management Quality Update meeting.
- Manage and maintain PPAP tracking system.
- Responsible for deviation processes across multiple plant locations.
- Oversee Monsoon Engine ISO Quality Management System to maintain annual certification.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Qualifications: Include Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and other skills/abilities/qualifications not listed above.
- ASQ Certifications in Auditing, Quality Management, Six Sigma, or Quality Engineering desired.
Competencies:

- Knowledgeable in Marine Compliance (NMMA, USCG, NMMA.)
- Strong understanding of quality management systems (QMS) like ISO 9001
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis techniques
- Proven ability to conduct supplier audits and identify areas for improvement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with suppliers
- Project management skills to develop and execute supplier development plans
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Background in engineering or manufacturing, preferably with experience in relationship management
