Summary This position will work with Malibu’s Powertrain Product Development Team, supporting the assembly and disassembly of engines, engine components, and test vessels. Responsible for preparing equipment, tools, components, and vessels to support the validation of new or updated powertrain components and performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assemble and disassemble engines and components to assist in development and validation of new or updated powertrain components, performance, and identifying the root cause of failures.
- Perform on-water validation for powertrain components to ensure their reliability and functionality.
- Assist the customer service and quality teams with troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts, which may require some travel to dealerships.
- Collect and document findings and communicate clear diagnosis of failures.
- Independently conduct hands-on engine testing
- Prepare and maintain equipment, tools, components, and vessels needed for testing and development
- Support manufacturing team to solve problems and continuously make improvements
- Determine adjustments to equipment or processes that require improvement.
- Perform preventative maintenance to equipment or boats and oversee the inventory of shop supplies and equipment.
- Regularly investigate product weaknesses to continuously improve and prevent potential issues. Contribute new ideas or solutions.
- Some travel required to testing sites and other locations as necessary.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Hands-on experience with basic and engine-related hand tools is required.
Boat operation experience, driving and trailering, is required.
Basic understanding of powertrain component installation required.
Familiarity with engine diagnostic tools (such as DIACOM) is preferred.
Language Skills
Proficiency in English is required.
Strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to solve problems using basic algebraic calculations.
Reasoning Ability
Must maintain a strong understanding of general problem solving, logical reasoning, and root cause analysis.
Other Qualifications
Must be willing to travel to offsite testing location for extended periods of time, such as Florida or Michigan.
