Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Janitor to join our team to service a location in Macon and a location Kirksville. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in various facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all occupants. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to perform a variety of cleaning tasks efficiently.
Schedule
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Hours are flexible. The locations can be serviced anytime between 5:30pm and 12:00am. Each building requires about 1.5 hours of work for each service (9 hours/week). Drive time will be paid for between buildings.
Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming in designated areas.
- Maintain floors through regular care such as buffing, waxing, and polishing to ensure they are clean and presentable.
- Conduct commercial cleaning tasks in offices, restrooms, and common areas to uphold hygiene standards.
- Assist with facilities maintenance by reporting any repairs or maintenance needs promptly.
- Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are used properly and safely.
- Provide porter services as needed, including moving furniture or equipment to support facility operations.
- Adhere to safety protocols while performing industrial cleaning tasks in compliance with company policies.
- Maintain an organized storage area for cleaning supplies and equipment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in custodial or janitorial roles is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of floor care techniques including buffing and maintenance is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with commercial cleaning practices and equipment operation is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of residential painting is an advantage but not required.
