Safety Specilalist

Growing stable company with excellent benefits is looking for a Safety Specialist:

Looking for experience in audits, ISO, Manufacturing , and safety along with a minimum of an Associates degree or above.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and correct potential hazards.
• Investigate and report findings for safety accidents, incidents, and near-misses, using root cause analysis methods and verification of countermeasures.
• Use data to identify safety trends and propose proactive measures to prevent future recurrence
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA
• Support the efforts of safety support consultants, including an Occupational Health Nurse, Ergonomic Specialist, Massage Therapist, and onsite Security Guards. Ensures resources provide coordinated, valuable support.
• Coordinates Worker’s Compensation activities. Coordinates resources and monitors outcomes. Develops countermeasures as appropriate.
• Lead self-insurance program with Third Party Vendors
• Identify potential safety hazards in the manufacturing processes and work areas, using safety risk assessment and other evaluation tools.
• Assist with development and implementation of corrective actions and preventive measures to eliminate or reduce risks, using hierarchy of safety controls.
• Leads the Emergency Response Team (ERT). Implement emergency response plans and conduct drills to prepare employees for potential emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters.
• Participate in safety committee meetings and collaborate with employees and management to address safety concerns and implement improvements.

REQUIREMENTS

• Associate’s degree from an accredited College or University in an Environmental or Safety Sciences or other science/technology
• Minimum of 1-2 years of safety responsibilities experience

• Experience in manufacturing industry
• Minimum of 3-5 years of safety responsibilities
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Occasional overnight regional and international travel required.
