Job summary
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
This position supervises a team of purchasing agents. Will also be responsible for the processes involved with distributing workload, acquiring inventory, managing shipments into MBS from purchase order to remittance and payment, handling bid requests from customers, and looking at other department needs for inventory. The focus will be on analyzing current demand and cost algorithms to increase the procurement volume of Used and New book purchases at the cheapest costdirectly from suppliers and marketplace sources. Will also manage the wholesale rental program.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate and manage purchases in accordance with specific department standards including, but not limited to, supplier sourcing,marketplace sourcing, custom bids, and buybacks.
Help maintain the marketplace shopping software, the parameters, vet and maintain marketplace sellers and suppliers, following company procurement metrics.
Analyze supplier inventory and pricing, to adhere to procurement and margin metrics set forth by the Inventory Management Department.
Load the necessary order details into OP; so that all orders can bereceived and invoices paid.
Manages MBS Wholesale Rental Program
Help build the Simple Source network and run cost analysis on current marketplace trends.
Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports.
Review and approve Purchase Orders.
Watch Marketplaces and make sure payments are made in a timely manner.
Monitor Staff
- Evaluates staff and make hiring and termination recommendations.
- Perform evaluations of subordinates to recommend and implement discipline as required.
- Cross training and floating employees as required.
- Counsels’ employees on work-related problems or questions.
- Train employees in necessary tasks that need to be completed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or relevant workexperience is desired.
A high level of competence with word processing and spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access is a requisite.
Experience with utilizing, developing, and maintaining Access/SQL queries, as well as general computer knowledge is required.
Knowledge of MBS computer systems.
Must have critical thinking skills to solve complex problems.
Must have the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize work responsibilities independently.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have the ability to meet deadlines while delivering accurate work.
Must possess better than average problem-solving capabilities to manage tasks from start to finish independently.
