Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator Location: West Salem, WI
Overview: Bostwick Estates, LLC is seeking a dedicated and skilled Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator to manage and oversee the operations of our wastewater treatment facility located at N3305 Cty Hwy M, West Salem, WI.
The operator will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) permit requirements, monitoring effluent quality, and maintaining the treatment plant equipment and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Effluent Monitoring and Compliance: - Conduct regular sampling and analysis of influent and effluent as per WPDES permit requirements.
- Monitor parameters including flow rate, BOD5, total suspended solids, pH, E. coli, and chlorine residuals.
- Ensure compliance with effluent limitations and reporting requirements.
2. Plant Operations and Maintenance:
- Operate and maintain all equipment and systems within the WWTP to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
- Respond to and resolve operational issues, equipment malfunctions, and process upsets.
3. Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all sampling, testing, and operational activities.
- Prepare and submit required reports to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in a timely manner.
- Document noncompliance events and corrective actions taken.
4. Sludge Management:
- Oversee the land application and hauling of sludge in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure proper sampling and analysis of sludge for parameters such as arsenic, cadmium, copper, lead, mercury, nickel, selenium, and zinc.
- Maintain records of sludge management activities and submit annual reports. 5. System Optimization: - Implement and monitor process improvements to enhance the removal of phosphorus and ammonia.
- Participate in the evaluation and implementation of operational improvements and facility modifications.
6. Emergency Response:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) and treatment facility overflows.
- Report and mitigate any noncompliance incidents that may endanger health or the environment.
Qualifications: - State of Wisconsin certified wastewater operator (or ability to obtain certification within a specified period).
- Experience in operating and maintaining wastewater treatment facilities.
- Knowledge of WPDES permit requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent record-keeping and reporting abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
