Overview:
Buyers are the central relationship point with our vendors, and the Jr. Buyer supports buyers on their book of business as it relates to price changes, PO creation, tracking down invoices and posting documents, etc.
This is a key role to learning the role of a buyer and this role is expected to eventually become a buyer or merchandiser with their own book of business.
Responsibilities:
- Inventory Replenishment: Monitor and assist in managing a book of business in partnership with a Sr. Buyer including placing vendor PO’s, manage cost, in-stock forecast, inventory turns, and 3rd party factory production planning.
- Supply Chain: Forecast inventory demands based on merchant promotional plans, seasonality, customer needs, etc.
- Inventory Controls: Work with warehouse, A/P, and Inventory Management to ensure inventory financial controls in place; reduction of aged inventory; notification of delivery; correct costing and promotion product forecast planned.
- Business Support: Work with merchandisers to identify areas of opportunity based on inventory position, sales goals, etc.
- Data Maintenance: Setup new items, manage system data, reconcile invoices, etc. to ensure AS400 purchasing data consistency.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (but not required).
- Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational, analytical, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.
- Teamwork, communication, and partnership skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Previous buying or ordering experience preferred.
- 3 days a week in office.
- Ability to work in a cigar environment

- TALKING: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- AVERAGE HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
- AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.
- PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
