MC Squared is a professional consulting engineering firm specializing in the fields of Geotechnical Engineering, Geo-Environmental, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, and Pavement Design and Management with offices in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Our clients include DOTs, municipalities, state agencies, and large multi-national engineering firms. We are retained to provide innovative solutions to complex subsurface issues to support the design of heavy civil infrastructure projects in Transportation, Water/Wastewater, Tunneling, Dams, and Aviation sectors, as well as provide cost-effective solutions for structures, commercial developments, and educational institutions. MC Squared has experienced significant year-over-year for the last several years and our current in-house projects and backlog show the trend will continue.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements
- Assist with site reconnaissance and locating borings in the field, log borings in the field, perform pavement coring operations, handle, and evaluate geophysical equipment and data, perform hand augers, and assist with drilling operations, rock and soil classification.
- Assist with managing field logistics including subcontractors, permitting with agencies, oversight of utility location services for projects.
- Assist and perform laboratory testing of soils, rock, concrete, and asphalt.
- Assist in preparation of cost estimates, proposals, and reports for projects.
- Travel will be necessary to jobsites out of town requiring an overnight stay. MC Squared will provide lodging and daily per diem.
- Perform field construction materials testing and inspection of soils, concrete and asphalt.
- Field and lab work will require lifting of heavy (50 lbs.) materials and equipment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and retain a clean motor vehicle report (MVR).
- Possess the ability to stand on your feet for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours a day.
- Possess the ability to traverse (by foot) job sites consisting of uneven ground and inconsistent material (mud, sand, gravel, rutted dirt, etc.).
- You may also be required to use a nuclear densometer to determine in-situ soil densities.
- Be able to wear and work using standard PPE, i.e., hard hat, safety vest, work boots, ear plugs, and safety glasses/goggles.
- Pursuing B.S. degree (M.S. degree or Ph.D. is preferred) in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering
- Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills
- Willingness to learn and grow
- Ability to work in the field full-time
- Keyboarding/data entry
- Ability to travel throughout the state
- Ability to occasionally travel out of state
- Ability to physically traverse a job site with varying degrees of incline/decline
- Ability to work overnight, as dictated by the client’s schedule
- Ability to work weekends, as dictated by the client’s schedule
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for up to 10 hours at a time
- Ability to alternate between sitting and standing depending on duties required
