PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Process automated purchase orders for the District to provide equitable learning opportunities for all students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or equivalent, required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Highly skilled in using a computer and application software
Strong and accurate mathematical and typing skills, preferred
Knowledgeable in the use of a calculator by touch and other office machines
Experience:
Two (2) years experience working as a secretary or clerk in a public environment, preferred
Workdays: 226 - Paid Monthly
Clerical/Technical Pay Structure: Pay Grade 5
Hourly Pay Range:
Minimum: $18.50
Midpoint: $22.16
Maximum: $25.82
Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Identify district-wide purchases through the use of the NIGP Commodity Code.
2. Generate reports, such as Vendor History, to monitor district purchasing practices and trends.
3. Review and approve/reject on-line computer purchase requisitions for campuses and departments.
4. Review account numbers to determine accuracy.
5. Mail vendor copies and distribute receiving copies of purchase orders and payment authorizations to appropriate campuses and departments.
6. Assist District staff and answer questions on purchase orders related to the Automated Purchasing System.
7. Assist in providing any necessary training to schools and departments on the Automated Purchasing System.
8. Answer the telephone and take messages concisely and accurately.
9. Assist with other departmental duties, including bid/quote processing, mailings, distribution of printed materials, catalogs, etc.
10. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
11. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
