PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To oversee the daily operations and maintenance of district facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional learning environment. This role involves managing trade supervisors and staff, coordinating repairs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and optimizing operational efficiencies across the district’s schools and administrative buildings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field preferred
Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance best practices, and safety regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and facilities maintenance software
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including administrators, staff, contractors, and vendors
Knowledge of energy management and sustainability practices
Ability to read, write, and understand English and Spanish
Ability to respond to emergency situations outside of normal working hours
Experience:
Minimum of five years of experience in facilities, management, maintenance, or operations preferably in an educational setting
Experience managing teams and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously
Prior experience with budgeting, procurement, and contractor oversight
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and improvement of district buildings, grounds, and infrastructure.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Ensure preventive maintenance programs are executed efficiently.
- Direct and supervise assigned personnel.
- Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations of assigned personnel.
- Ensure staff adherence to safety and operational protocols.
- Assist in preparing and managing the department’s budget, including tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Oversee procurement and inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Identify and apply for available grants or funding sources for facility improvements.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective measures.
- Develop and oversee district-wide safety programs and emergency response plans.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans related to facility operations, including weather-related closures and equipment failures.
- Assist in emergency facility issues to coordinate an immediate response
- Oversee contracted services, including landscaping, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and custodial services.
- Ensure work is completed according to contractual agreements and district standards.
- Evaluate and recommend vendors for district facility services.
- Collaborate with district leadership to assess facility needs and plan for future improvements, renovations, and expansions.
- Develop and implement a district-wide facilities master plan.
- Identify opportunities for energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.
- Implement programs to reduce waste and utility costs.
- Monitor energy consumption and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Serve as a liaison between district leadership, staff, and community stakeholders on facility-related matters.
- Provide reports and presentations on facility projects and maintenance operations to school board members and administrators
- Attend meetings with architects, engineers, contractors, and project managers as needed.
- Manage construction contracts for the department and aid in the preparation of bids.
- Promote a positive tone for school/community relations by fostering collaborative educational efforts among staff and by supporting the district’s philosophy, mission, and commitment to site-based shared decision-making.
- Perform duties outside the regular work schedule, including nights and weekends, as needed to meet strict deadlines.
- Demonstrate loyalty within a team approach to District initiatives.
- Performs other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).

Daily Rate pay range:
Minimum: $ 314.94
Maximum: $ 439.40
Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
